Nigerian Afrobeats rising star, Asake, has recently released a self-love anthem titled “2:30” accompanied by a vibrant music video directed by Edgar Esteves. The track, which will be featured on Asake’s upcoming album later this year, celebrates the singer’s uniqueness and individuality with a blend of percussion and synths produced by Magicsticks and BlaiseBeatz. The music video, shot in Los Angeles, showcases Asake’s eccentric wardrobe and him lounging poolside in the Hollywood Hills wearing crystal-studded sandals amidst a crowd of partygoers.
“2:30” is Asake’s second solo track of the year following the release of “Yoga” in January, which earned him his first appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Asake also collaborated with Davido on the track “NO COMPETITION” from the latter’s new album. Last year, Asake made history with his debut studio album, “Mr. Money With the Vibe,” which became the highest-charting Nigerian debut album ever by entering the Billboard 200 albums chart at the 66th spot.
In the coming months, Asake is gearing up for a series of live performances including Afro Nation in Miami on May 27, Rosendal Garden Party in Sweden on June 8, and Broccoli City in Washington D.C. on July 16, among others. With his distinct sound and unique style, Asake is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music industry and beyond. Fans can watch the vibrant music video for “2:30” now.
