The United African Basketball League (UABL) is excited to announce its 3rd Annual
Tournament of Nations Charity Basketball Festival in Silver Spring, MD, on Saturday,
August 24th, 2024. This event aims to support underserved youth through sports
and community engagement. It will be a full day of basketball, wellness activities,
and Afrobeats music, ending with the DMV’s top World Cup of Basketball.
Smade a renowned cultural ambassador known for his significant impact on the
Afrobeats scene—joins the UABL family this year as a proud ambassador for the
event. His involvement highlights the importance of the initiative and the positive
change it aims to create in the lives of young people.
Event Highlights:
- Morning Wellness & Youth Basketball Clinic (10 AM – 12 PM)
The festival kicks off with a special Morning Wellness session, followed by a Youth
Basketball Clinic. Open to all skill levels, the clinic will provide young athletes with
the opportunity to learn from seasoned coaches, develop their skills, and
participate in a youth tournament. - Afternoon Hoops & Contests (12 PM – 2 PM)
The action heats up with exciting hoop contests, including dunk competitions, 3-
point shootouts, and a 1v1 challenge, showcasing some of the best local talent. The
“Ladies Love Basketball” all-women’s showcase is not to be missed, celebrating the
power and skill of women in the sport. - Afrobeats & Basketball Outdoor Day Party (2 PM – 4 PM)
Groove to the beats of top DJs spinning the latest Afrobeats tunes as the festival
transitions into an energetic outdoor day party. With designated seating areas,
table service, and a variety of drink selections, attendees will experience a unique
blend of music and basketball culture. - Main Event: Tournament of Nations (4 PM – 8 PM)
The festival’s grand finale will feature the “Tournament of Nations,” where teams
from Liberia, Ghana, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, USA, Nigeria, and Cameroon
will compete in a high-energy basketball tournament, bringing the community
together in the spirit of friendly competition.
